Proven to be effective
LifeSaver Lifeline is the ONLY drinking water filter straw tested and certified by NSF International to the following NSF/ANSI standards:
Independently tested to exceed:
This unique combination of certifications makes Lifeline the most rigorously tested and trusted filtration straw on the market.
For those that are unable (or unwilling) to get close enough to suck water straight from a water source, fill a collapsible Squeeze Pouch, connect it to the Lifeline and squeeze the water through - perfect for small children or food prep. It also allows you to collect water and take it with you, to filter and drink when you need it. And if you're staying in one place for a while, our generous one-gallon (3.8-litre) Gravity Bag can be filled with water from a river, stream, or lake, hung from a tree, and connected to your Lifeline for safe drinking water on tap.
Unlike most straw-style filters, the LifeSaver Lifeline isn't designed to be thrown away when it stops working. It's easy to take apart and clean, and both the Filter Cartridge and Activated Carbon Filter can be replaced, keeping your plastic waste to a minimum. As you approach the 5,000 litre capacity, the FailSafe technology will make it increasingly difficult to draw or squeeze water through the straw; simply change the Cartridge and carry on. The carbon filter will need changing more frequently - whenever you notice that water no longer tastes as good as it did - but the Lifeline will keep you safe even if there's no carbon.

Keep your hands and pockets free. All you need is a Lifeline and a water source. Get down close to the water and use it like a straw.
Can't get close enough? Or want to take water with you for later? Fill a Squeeze Pouch, screw it into the base and squeeze water through. Ideal for kids.
Setting up camp for the night or relaxing by a lake for a day's fishing? Fill a Gravity Bag with water, connect your Lifeline and you have almost 4 litres of water on tap.
We're timing the launch of our new Lifeline range with World Water Day 2026 and, to support the battle against water poverty, for every 5,000 Lifelines sold, we'll supply a LifeSaver C1 large-scale purifier to a community in need.
The LifeSaver Lifeline takes up very little space, so it can be stored in a pocket, backpack, vehicle glove compartment, or go bag, ready to use when you need it. The ultimate survival tool, it protects against bacteria, parasites, microplastics and dirt. It's ultralight and has an almost unlimited shelf life, making it perfect for emergency preparedness packs.
We'll start dispatching Lifeline on Friday 20th March so, depending on where you are, you should have it soon after that.
The short answer is yes. Dehydration will make you unwell very quickly and, if you must choose between water that has come straight from a river and water that has been filtered for bacteria, parasites and sediment, a Lifeline is absolutely a better option. Aside from reducing virus risk, the Lifeline meets all other LifeSaver Values, most importantly rigorous testing and NSF certification.
Viruses are much smaller than bacteria, parasites, sediment and microplastics. The pores in the ultrafiltration filters in our other products are small enough to catch viruses, but you need a pump to force water through. The Lifeline relies on the user sucking water up through the filter with their mouth - almost impossible to do with a virus filter. Even when using a Squeeze Pouch, the amount of pressure you'd need to force water through a virus filter would probably split the seams. Similar products to ours may make virus claims, but they won't remove the smallest viruses.
You should always research the risks carefully before travelling overseas, but, in general, a Lifeline will keep you safe in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US. For travel to Africa, Asia, South America, or any country with poor sanitation, we'd recommend choosing a more robust solution such as the Liberty or Wayfarer. Remember, the nastiest infections come from poop; in an area where sanitation is poor, poop will likely make its way into the groundwater.
The red section at the bottom of your Lifeline is an adaptor with a slightly wider screw thread to enable you to connect a different size bottle or water container. Our squeeze pouch has a 25mm neck, so it screws directly into the navy blue base. The 30mm thread on the red section allows you to use other brands of squeeze pouch or a plastic water bottle to harvest river water.
The dust cap will prevent water from dripping out of the filter after you've just used it. It's not essential so don't worry if you lose it - just give the Lifeline a good shake to get excess water out. The important thing is to remember to take it off before you try and suck or squeeze water through the straw!
No! When you get back from your walk give everything a quick rinse in clean water, let it dry out completely and it will be good to go for your next hike. This difference between Lifeline and our water purifiers is what gives the Lifeline an unlimited shelf life.
