Posted 5 years ago

With summer out of the way and the kids back at school, we’re already feeling nostalgic about our holidays, turning our thoughts to what we’d like to do next year. For those who love trekking, camping, skiing or water-based activities – in fact, anyone who’s an outdoor adventure enthusiast – there are a few bucket list destinations that you can’t afford to miss.

These unforgettable places give you the chance to experience culture, different environments and some downtime, whilst enjoying a whole range of exciting active pursuits to keep you stimulated and energized.

From historic treks, natural wonders to wildlife encounters, 2020 could be your year to try one of these amazing destinations.  Remember, wherever you travel to, it’s always wise to take an outdoor water filter with you. You don’t want to ruin your holiday by getting ill from drinking suspect water and you never know when you might be cut off from an outdoor water supply. So a trekking water purifier for adventurers or hikers is a must.

The LifeSaver Liberty is the perfect travel companion for your outdoor adventure holiday. It’s our smallest but most versatile product, accommodating 400ml of water for drinking between water-sources, and will purify up to 2,000 litres before needing a new filter. It also has a unique 2-in-1 design that means it doubles up as an in-line filter. The benefit of this is, that not only can you drink directly from it as a personal bottle, you can also use the Liberty to pump purified water into other clean containers so groups or couples travelling together only need to carry one LifeSaver Liberty with them.

The really neat thing about LifeSaver Liberty is that it’s perfect for sustainable travel, helping save these wonderful environments from single use plastic water bottles. Using a LifeSaver Liberty can save 4,000 500ml plastic bottles going to landfill and, at the same time, It saves you money on unnecessary water purchases. That has to be a win, win.

So without further ado, here are our top destinations.

Australia

With some of the most biodiverse terrain in the world, Australia offers amazing adventure holidays for everyone. Renowned for the Outback, home to remote Aboriginal territories and the world’s largest coral reef, this a place to fall in love with. Offering a range of activities that include four-wheeling and boating through Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory, bushwalking in Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park in Australia’s Red Center, surfing and hiking through fern gullies along the Great Ocean Road and scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, it’s not to be missed.

Iceland

Extreme, unique and growing in popularity, Iceland has a dramatic volcanic landscape to mesmerize visitors. With it’s incredible outdoor scenery, striking glaciers, powerful waterfalls, hot springs and magical Northern Lights, there is so much to do and see. Enjoy exploring the terrain on foot, by bike, on horseback or even by boat, then camp beneath the most spectacular sky.

If you’re into diving, you can even take a dip between the North American and Eurasian plates in the Silfra fissure. Make sure to add Skaftafell National Park, Thingvellir National Park, Dimmuborgir, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, and Dettifoss Waterfall to your trip plan. You can even take a once in a lifetime descent below the earth’s surface on a trip into Thrihnukagigur Volcano. Now that’s different!

Switzerland

When it comes to beautiful scenery, there are few better places in the world to hike than the Swiss Alps. A true all-season wonderland, Switzerland offers exquisite mountains and countryside perfect for outdoor adventuring. Whether it’s a summer adventure, trekking through flower-filled meadows, passing thundering waterfalls or taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of Gornergletscher, a glacier with dazzlingly brilliant blue pools and deep crevasses. Or a winter sports break, skiing the majestic Matterhorn, that stands between Switzerland and Italy.

The towns of Bern, Lucerne, Interlake, Bernese Oberland, and Grindelwald provide a smorgasbord of activities from backpacking, hiking, snowboarding, skiing, canyoning, biking, and paragliding. Oh, and don’t forget the chocolate!

Costa Rica

One of the most biodiverse countries on earth and renowned for adventure trips. With unspoiled rainforests, heavenly beaches, active volcanos, and a huge array of wildlife, this country remains a favourite for travel enthusiasts. With the new Jordan Trail, 643km of hiking trail following ancient trade routes, Jordan has put itself on the map.  With countless other things to see and do also, Jordan is ideal for adventurers seeking to combine a passion for the outdoors with fascinating history and culture. You could be one of the first to visit a world wonder, the lost city of Petra, explore the desert the old fashioned way, by camel, or on sand buggies, cycle through the Dana Biosphere Reserve, abseil or rock climb in Wadi Rum or canyon or rappel through Wadi Mujib. And after all that activity, why not relax, lie back and float on the Dead Sea.

Zambia and Zimbabwe

More impressive than North America’s Niagra Falls, Victoria Falls straddles the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, more than 330 feet high and a mile across. During the peak season, from February through April, it’s the largest waterfall on the planet. Whilst this really is the most magnificent spectacle to behold, there’s more to do here than just take in the view.  You can take part in a wide range of adventurous activities in addition. Ride the rapids on the wildest white water rafting trip in the world, go zip lining, rappel, hop on a gorge swing, and if you’re brave enough, the 364-foot-high bungee jump.
