LifeSaver Wayfarer Activated Carbon Filters
These replaceable Wayfarer Activated Carbon Discs reduce chemicals and heavy metals as well as removing bad taste and odour, each effective for up to 100 litres. The activated carbon discs used in all LifeSaver products have been tested to show excellent and consistent heavy metal and chemical reduction for their stated life over a range of sample contaminants such as chlorine, lead, nickel and cadmium. Improving taste and odour along the way.
The activated carbon filter is fitted at the top of the Wayfarer just below the outlet nozzle. The microbiologically clean water which has been passed through LifeSaver's ultrafiltration cartridge then gets filtered through the carbon disc.
How does an Activated Carbon Filter work?
Activated carbon filters work though adsorption; as water passes through the filter, contaminant molecules get snagged by the rough surface of the fibres. They can only do this in a single layer. Once the all the surfaces inside the filter are coated with contaminants, further impurities with slide on through. You'll know when this happens because the water will start to taste off. It's still safe to drink - the ultrafiltration cartridge will carry on working - but for the best taste, and for the comfort of knowing any non microbiological contaminants are being reduced - you should replace your carbon filter.
This 3 pack of activated carbon filters will filter 300 litres of water before a replacement pack is required.
Wherever your adventures take you, it’s vital you understand how to set up and use your LifeSaver water purifiers correctly, to get the best performance possible.
With that in mind, we’ve created a series of helpful ‘How To’ instructional videos covering everything you’ll need to ensure you get the most out of your purifiers, from the essential first step of “priming” to replacing your UF Cartridge and Activated Carbon Filters.
